November 2006
You dropped in unannounced a while back.
I thought you’d stop in again soon after, but you left abruptly.
We were going to play together. I was going to dress up for you.
But you just wanted to tease me.
Last night you arrived and I nearly fell to the ground upon our first touch.
On our drive home my anxiety shut out everything else.
I started my day early for you.
I’ll end it short because of you.
I remember when you first kissed me.
Your presence piled around me.
You were the only thing in sight.
You always do that.
And when you leave, I’ll wipe my hands with you.
No more will I constantly pursue warmth.
No more will I defend you to outsiders.
No more will I discuss your nasty habits.
But my love for you spans my lifetime.
I’ll never shake you off, dear Winter.
